The QSL-card collection
One of the nicest things in hamradio is the QSL card: when a contact has been succesfully made and all necessary information has been exchanged between two stations, they often send each other a so-called QSL card to confirm the contact.
These QSL cards serve as a name-card of the owning station, and so many ham operators make a real effort to create a nice QSL card. It is indeed something of their own that will be sent all over the world.
The cards are sent by the local bureau of the native country or by direct mail. It sometimes takes a real effort to get the card of a wanted QSO, when after some time nothing is received from the bureau, one has to try to get the address of the ham operator from callbooks or the internet, and try to write to him/her personally. An IRC (Internation Request Coupon) or a dollar in the envelop might help in getting an answer ... In other cases, a QSL manager handles the cards from a specific station, so the corresponding card will be sent from his home country. This all means that it can take quite a time to get a QSL after a succesful QSO has been established. But for a ham operator it is all worth it to get the card for his collection ...
In the years that I was active on HF (always in CW!), I had numerous QSOs and gradually a nice QSL card collection started to grow. Unfortunately, despite much efforts, a lot of hams to which I sent QSL cards didn't response. I hoped to get a DXCC award in CW, but due to a lot of missing QSL cards, I never succeeded. This is very discouraging and was one of the reasons I lost interest in the hobby ...
Whatever,in this page you will find the nicest QSL cards I got from hams living all over the world. They are sorted alfabetically by continent and further by country, to make a search more easy.
